fakesteve - The man with the Golden Blog

Saturday, June 30th, 2007

The blog http://fakesteve.blogspot.com has generated lot of buzz both online & offline as to who is the author behind the blog. The blog is very well written, words are chosen so carefully that it is a delight reading the blog. I really like the flow of the language. Some think it is the Steve Jobs himself who writes the blog or someone who knows the ins & outs of the silicon valley. It is becoming a bermuda triangle as to who is the author. Another valley based blog valleyblog is posting lots of articles about the Blog to find out the author. This remainds me of the Lonelygirl15 incident of the youtube videos, which was later found out to be a Marketing ploy. Once in a while, such things do happen & provide enough food for bloggers to discuss.

Red Brigade in Green Malnad

Friday, June 29th, 2007

The naxal menace in malnad region of Karnataka is growing alaramingly. The recent killings & burning of bus has highlighed the increasing tensions. First one must ponder how the Naxals came to occupy the serene Malnad region. It could not have taken overnight. All along the Kuduremukh iron ore struggles, displacement of the tribals & others provided an avenue for the naxals to come to forefront in this struggle. The killings have been going on for years with no result. This has resulted in the bloodbath in the grren malnad region. Neither the govt or naxals are coming forward to settle the issue amicably. It is hightime we forget the differences & settle the issue. Always a Win-win situation is going to create a favorable environment.

Search Engines Join the Race to Reduce Global Warming

Sunday, June 10th, 2007

With every industry joining the race to save the planet from global warming, Search engines are the latest to join the bandwagon. By logging on to Blackle.com, a new search engine, 750 MegaWatt of energy can be saved because the screen is predominantly black. A monitor requires more energy to display white screen than black screen. Blackle’s Energy efficiency is being marketed by Google aggresively. For white screen it needs around 75 watts to display while black screen requires about 60 watts.

This is a significant step as Google gets around 200 Million queries a day. Even a small fraction of this query routing to blackle.com would go a big step in saving the energy & reducing Global Warming.
